Keeping your Luggage Free

I’m flying out to Vancouver on Thursday for the weekend. Every time I fly to the west coast, I like to bring gifts to my parents and clothing to my condo in Vancouver. Before I fly, I’ll pack my luggage and use my scale to measure its weight because anything over 60 pounds on WestJet will cost me $40. On a United Airlines flight, the weight restriction is only 50 pounds and anything over will cost $100. Ouch!

My recommendation to you is to buy yourself a travel scale that you bring along with you. I recently picked one up at the Chicago airport for $15. I thought it was a good deal because I saw it on the internet for a lot more. It has a big dial on it and a hook. To weigh your luggage, you simply slip the hook around the handle of your bag and lift. The weight will be indicated on the dial.

To get a real good deal on a scale, check out SaveOnScales where they have one at only $3.50. This scale works well for United Airlines because it only weighs luggage up to 50 pounds. If you want one that weighs more than 50 pounds, it’s going to cost you $9.90.

Other than travel scales, they also have a body weight scale that talks to you. I know my wife would not get on a scale like this because she would hate a scale that announces her weight. She likes to keep it a secret. If you are interested, the J-Talk costs $49.90. Or if you are joker, buy the FunWeigh which will joke about your weight because it has 8 joke expressions that randomly plays.
