Today’s stock market was down because there is no consumer confidence on spending. Hmmm, I guess it doesn’t include me as I have been shopping online since January. I think this is a buyer’s market. Everyone in the right mind is saving their money except moi who is buying up things – anything that is a good deal!
Today I bought myself a pair of shoes and bought my wife one too. Have you ever heard about Teva? If you shop at REI or some mountain store, you will most likely see brands like Merrell, Keen and Teva. Like all these recreational shoes, Teva can be quite pricey. But I did say this is a buyer’s market so here’s the deal. Click here and take a look at what is on sale at Teva. Believe it or not, they are selling some cool shoes as low as $19.90.
Shipping is $5.95 per shoe but if you sign up to receive their emails, they will send you a code that you can use (instantly) to get free shipping.

They say when a recession hits, people flock to movie theatres. With the release of James Bond and the highly anticipated next installment of Harry Potter, I don’t think there will be a lack of people in line. Both Cineplex and Empire theatres offer gift cards that you can pick up from your local drugstore such as Rexall. But if you want to buy discount movie tickets, you will have to buy them from BCAA or AMA (in Alberta) or if you work for a large corporation (eg. Encana), check with your social club for discount tickets. Tickets can go as low as $8 for an adult admission.
For the gadget lovers, try the iTheatre wireless eyewear for $139.95. Plug it into your iPod or dvd player then put on a pair of iTheatre eyewear to enjoy a 50″ virtual viewing screen.
It almost feels like you are sitting in a theatre with a wraparound screen. It is so cool. You are totally immersed in the picture as though you are right in the movie.
Imagine plugging it into your Wii and playing a game like Mario Kart. I did and I felt like I was on the track with Bowser and Luigi, racing around Sherbet Land in real life. It was bizarre but incredibly fun. With Tiger Woods PGA Tour, I felt I was really playing Pebble Beach. And with Rapala Fishing, I was on the lake, fishing for bass.
If you are interested in getting a pair, I can help you get it for under $120. Check with us for the special coupon code to use.

If you wear size 7 or 9 then you are in luck. Luckily for me, my foot was small yesterday as I picked up a few Keen sandals and shoes for cheap. How cheap? Almost 50%-60% off retail prices. I found a Newport style for $50 that normally sells for US$80.
Also at $50 was the Jasper style shoe that normally goes for US$95. There were about 4 shelves full of Keen shoes, ranging from sandals to hiking shoes, some men’s and some ladies’ but were all size 7 or 9. My favorite pair of sandals is the Newport H2’s. They had a navy blue pair for $55 which is a great price considering that you can easily pay more than US$95 a pair.
They also had Keen bags and knapsacks. For knapsacks, they had daypacks which are great for school or for a day tour. My favorite was
a style called Burnside where a zipper along the side would reveal a compartment to hold your laptop in. Nice ample shoulder straps let you carry the bag comfortably on your shoulders or if you wish, you can carry it like a normal bag, there is a fabric handle on the side. A small mesh pocket to hold your keys, earbuds (or makeup) is hidden by the top flap, reached by unzipping the zipper on the top. The bag normally sells for US$95 but was on sale for $55.
On another floor, there was a clearance of ski wear. Everything for the snowboarder can be found here including Kombi undergarments, toques, face masks, hoodies, gloves, performance fleece and more. Rip Curl knapsacks for $30 and Australian snowboards for $300 were at hand too. Toques were clearing at 2-for-$10, a great stocking stuffer. Roots golf shirts were selling for $30 or less. And a bargain rack of various shirts and sizes in the hallway for $5. Opposite the hallway cashier was a room clearing shoes of all types, mostly sample sizes that range from 6 to 9. I managed to pick up a pair of Bite golf shoes for $30 that I have seen at Golf Town for $60 or more. LPGA visors went for $2 and golf spikes for $4.
If you’re interested in checking this out, drop by the Manchester Building at 339 – 50th Ave SE today before 3:00pm.

The one complaint that I have with Rock Band for the Wii is that you don’t hear anything (realistic) when you beat on the drums. It would be better if you could hear the drum beat as you hit the pads instead of plastic against plastic. I mean, that’s what the Wii is all about. The sensation is there but it falls short of expectation. Coming to the rescue is the V-Beat Drumsticks. Attached to the pair of drumsticks is a device that broadcasts the sound of the snare drum, cymbals and the heart-pounding beats. For $30 US, you play on your own or you can connect it to your MP3 player.
Here’s another item for me, a Jimi Wallet.
Great for my credit cards because I’m tired of bent credit cards. The Jimi Wallet is a plastic compartment for your credit cards, ID and gift cards. It goes for under $16.
Can’t wait for hot water? Here’s a hot device from Tefal, introducing the QuickCup Kettle that delivers a hot
cup of water in just 3 seconds. It’s fast but it’s not cheap, at $92, at least it’s faster than turning on the tap. If you’re interested in these items and more, be sure to visit me in a few days.
Going Out of Business November 4, 2008

If you’re a store owner and you are going out of business then slash your prices. The latest chain to go down the tubes is Linens & Things in Calgary but since announcing this news, they have only discounted their goods by 10%. That’s hardly a ‘going out of business’ or ‘final sale’. They have to do better than that, or else they are going to be there for some time.
Need a car? Budget just announced a sale on their cars until Sunday. Use coupon: U113700 and pay $149 per week for a compact.
Need a Wii game? Visit your local Wal-Mart for a whole slew of discounted Wii games such as Wii Star Wars, Nameco Museum Remix, Gameparty, CSI, Cars2, MonkeyBall, Emergency Heroes, Spiderman III, Ratatouille, MLB Power Pros, Jumper and many, many more. All for under $20.
Also for under $40, get Gucci, Dior, Fendi glasses at ClearlyContacts.

If you haven’t cleaned and stored your golf clubs, get a tee time this weekend at either Woodside, Lakeside, Silverwing, Boulder Creek or Links of Gleneagles because all of these courses are still open. If no tee times exist for Saturday then get up early and go to your local Golf Town because starting at 8am (for Leaderboard members only), all demo clubs will be sold at a substantial discounted price. Sorry, no promo codes are required and no online sales neither.
For those of you who don’t care then let me refer you to the ‘Custom Clubs’ link on our front page. By clicking on this link, you will see the driver that I ordered for my wife that has added at least 20 yards to her drive. She loves it so much that I am ordering one for myself. I managed to try it at the driving range and the ball flew like crazy. There are two models of the GX Square Ti driver, the draw model and regular. My wife has the draw model and once the ball lands, it rolls another 10 yards or so. If you visit this page, you will see the 15% off banner. Click on it and pay roughly $84.90 or less. We went for an upgraded grip because she likes the softer Winn grips.
Gigagolf clubs are solid. Priced like clubs found at Wal-Mart, Gigagolf clubs are a steal at these prices. Go to Golf Town and see what driver you can buy for under $100. Good luck.

Ladies, mark your calendar for October 27th as four distinguished women come to stage to inspire you and to be your successful role models in health, career, family and financial. It is the Secrets of Today’s Modern Woman show at the Jubilee. Who is coming? Ivana Trump, Jane Seymour, Leslie Beck and Linda Nazareth. If you are interested, go to TicketMaster and use code word: MODERN to save 20% off tickets. You have to click on my link above, otherwise you can’t access the promo page where you need to enter the code word.
Guys, do you want Callaway clubs? Kananaskis golf is selling off their rental clubs but you have to hurry. Call (403) 591-7088 ext. 321 for prices, availability and to get your name on the wait list. The sale began as early as August but when I was out there at the end of August, they still had a few sets left.
Golf courses all over Calgary are in great shape and with the Indian Summer ahead of us, it looks like there won’t be a slowdown anytime soon. Courses are offering end of season plays so if you are looking for unlimited golf, look to:
1. Carstairs – Unlimited golf for $239 from now to end of season. If you buy a 2009 membership, you can deduct this off next year’s dues.
2. River’s Edge Golf Club – Unlimited golf for $275 from now to end of season. If you buy a 2009 Executive Membership, you can deduct this off the 2009 fees.
More to come as the 2008 season winds down.

Anyone who golfs know what a handicap is. As a beginner, it may not serve a purpose but one day, it will. One of the ways to make sure you are improving is to keep a handicap. There are software that you can download to keep a handicap or you can sign up online. I like to use GreensKeeper to keep my handicap because on it, you can also keep statistics of your rounds such as number of greens in regulation, number of putts per hole, number of sand saves, etc.
Some players that I play with each week can save up to 5 strokes per round, simply by putting better. Sometimes it is the putter, other times it is the “feel” that you have around the green. The more often you play at a certain course, the better “feel” you will get for that course. I picked up a few new putters this year and I tend to interchange them between rounds. I like to use my old Ping putter for flat and uninteresting greens. I use my new Diamond Tour $12 putter on new greens or when the ball seems to roll forever. Then there’s my Odyssey putter that I won from a tournament I played at. I hardly play with it because it doesn’t seem to work for me. I have absolutely no “feel” for this putter.
My friend Cliff swears by his K-Mart putter that he picked up for $9.99. On the other hand, Brent swears by his putter, a Scotty Cameron Newport putter that he paid over $300 for. Putters range in dollar value. It’s not how much you spend for it, it all comes down to how much confidence you have holding it.

Looking for promo codes for Budget? Here are some to whet your appetite. Rent an intermediate SUV from the airport for only $189 per week by using the code: U030134. Same rate for renting from the neighborhood location, too. Heading to Long Beach, California anytime soon? Rent a compact car for a week and use this code: U030089 and pay only $115.99 for 7 days. That’s a pretty good rate if I say so myself.
I check my blog stats everyday to see what people are searching for. I see that someone is interested in finding a promo code for Nike. What about Puma? Would you like see promo codes for either of these two esoteric athletic stores? Ok, lets start with Nike first. Use B2S8 if you want to get free shipping from Nike. If you want to save money, visit me tonight and I will share a code with you to save 20% off. That may not sound like much to you but then, Nike hardly goes on sale so anything off is a bonus.
Since you are planning to visit me anyways, I will share a code with you to shop at Puma and save 20% off too. Again, that does not sound like much but both Nike and Puma hardly sells anything at a discount. So if I were you, I would come and visit. But only tonight.

I see that alot of you like searching for promo codes and coupons, especially ones to use at Golf Town. I’m sorry that Golf Town doesn’t like using promo codes like a lot of online merchants such as Pro Golf, Golf Balls.com, 3Balls and others. We have a coupon at our site to save 15% off almost everthing at Pro Golf.
Recently I posted a promo code for Air Canada where some people took advantage of saving up to 50% off flights to Honolulu in September. I used it myself to compare prices, first without the code then with. The promo code slashed the price from $290 to $145 one way from Calgary to Honolulu.
One of the things that you might have noticed about using promo codes is that they only limit you to using one code per order. With GolfBalls.com, you can either get free shipping on orders over $75 with the code: SHIPFORFREE or a 10% discount using the code: LABORDAYSALE. Don’t get fooled by the name because they sell a lot more things than golf balls.
If you’ve been sitting on the fence with custom clubs, today may be the day you decide to go for it. Here’s three codes that expire today at Gigagolf. Save 20% off the P2 Ti driver (that looks like a Ping) if you use the code: 6654 when you checkout. Save 15% a Revelation set if you use the code: 5568. And lastly, save 30% off the GX920 Hybrid if you use the code: 5521. Custom clubs doesn’t have to be expensive, especially if you buy it online. You can buy a custom fitted hybrid for as low as $39.50 at Gigagolf.
On the electronics front, save 15% off everything if you use the code: LD15 at Shop4Tech.com – you source for media, supplies and electronic gadgets. Get $10 off any $50 order at Shoes.com including shoes by Keen, Merrell, Skechers, Calvin Klein and more. Coupon is on our site.
