An Airline that Cares February 18, 2008

If there’s ever a time when you want to switch airlines, it’s when they have oversold a flight and your seat has been taken away from you or they have delayed your flight due to mechanical difficulties. That was exactly the situation on Thursday night when we flew out to Vancouver for the weekend. Our flight was delayed for an hour and a half for a unscheduled maintenance routine.
Last month, we were delayed for over two hours in Los Angeles on the same airline. The airline promised to pay for lunch but when we tried to order a meal on their standing offer, the restaurant told us that the airline had retracted the offer. I confronted them at the customer service desk and they told me that they made a mistake announcing the offer. When asked if they were going to announce a retraction, they said ‘No’. In my opinion, this is very bad customer service.
Today, we flew back with WestJet and had no complaints. On most short flights, complimentary beverage service is usually a one-time affair. Surprisingly, there were two this morning. I managed to get my coffee topped up and the guy across the aisle had three drinks, a tomato juice, water and coffee.
Don’t take my word for it. Just look at some reviews. The stewardesses are cheery and they try their best to get you to your destination on time and on budget.
Next time you are flying in Canada or to the US, try WestJet where they own their own planes (which are 737’s), provide Air Miles and will go the extra mile for you! (WestJet flies to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Palm Springs and Phoenix in the winter seasons)
WestJet has frequent sales over the year, but you will have to check with us to take advantage of special prices.
